Founded in 2015 by a group of friends who wanted to make their yearly gathering an occasion to do good as well, in its first years UNICUM organized events to support local charities in Italy, and public debates to untangle complex topics (such as Italy’s constitutional referendum of 2016, discussed with the former president of Italy’s Constitutional Court).
The 2020-2022 pandemic resulted in a forced break in the association’s activity and, ultimately, the need to rethink its mission.
Today, with a renewed membership based on peers expert in different strands of international law, who all share a longstanding passion for international moot court competitions, UNICUM has evolved its focus to supporting advanced education initiatives and promote a deeper understanding of international law (and its relation with politics), effective writing and public speaking skills, and advanced legal English for non-native speakers.
